The trade and industry department will publish the procurement list of designated economic sectors from which government will be obliged to purchases on December 7.
In an address to the Cape Town press club, Minister Rob Davies said the designations — provided for in the preferential procurement act — would include infrastructure projects.
A significant proportion of inputs for these projects would have to come from South African manufacturers.
This would include the rolling stock acquisition programme of the Passenger Rail Agency of SA.
